MEET DR. MICHAEL A. SORACE

DR. MICHAEL A. SORACE

Dr. Sorace attended Emory University as an undergraduate and then enrolled at The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center for medical school. As a medical student, Dr. Sorace distinguished himself through his numerous accomplishments and honors. He received multiple awards including the William Montanga, MD Award for Excellence in Dermatological Research and a McGraw Hill Award for outstanding achievement as a medical student. He received membership into the national honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha, during his third year of medical school and served as the president of the honor society in his fourth year. He ultimately graduated first in his class of over 150 medical students.


Dr. Sorace earned a position at the prestigious UCLA Division of Dermatology for his residency. He continued his pattern of excellence by attaining the top honor bestowed upon a resident in his program, the Ronald Reisner Award, two years in a row. He served as the chief resident in his final year of residency.


After residency, Dr. Sorace served the community of San Antonio as a general dermatologist. However, he soon returned to training to subspecialize in Mohs surgery and procedural dermatology where he gained experience in all aspects of advanced skin surgery. He completed a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at one of the busiest and most demanding programs in the country.


Dr. Sorace now practices in and around San Antonio and the Hill Country. He has personally performed well over 20,000 Mohs surgeries and complicated wound repairs. He has also performed several thousand vein surgeries and other skin surgeries. His efforts have been recognized widely having served as President of San Antonio Dermatological Society and as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine.


Outside of practice, Dr. Sorace enjoys spending time with his wife, Regina and his dog, Polly. His hobbies include traveling, cooking, SCUBA diving, and playing golf.
